Last week Monday the 27th June, we went to MOTAT which is The Museum of Transport and Technology. MOTAT is a place where you can learn about stuff, like learning about old technology and old transportation. You can explore buildings and you can go on tram rides, you can also visit the zoo from the tram ride.
On that Monday morning I came to school, I was so excited because we were going on a trip to MOTAT. We lined up to get on a bus one by one to get seated for our bus ride. The bus ride felt so long, like half an hour. When we finally got to MOTAT we met a worker named Grace and her team. When we went to our meeting space we first had morning tea to get some energy so we could walk around looking at all the objects.
My class did some coding on mbots with Grace. Grace taught us the code, and we did it on the chromebooks. The mbots were connected to the chromebooks, so all we had to do was download the code into them. Grace taught us the code to battle each other. The mbots had to stay in the circle, and if they went out, you would lose. To win, we had to stay in the line, while pushing the other mbots out. We did coding to learn more about digital technology. I was lucky because I won two times in a row, woohoo!
Then we got to explore MOTAT. My favourite thing that we explored was when we got to go on the tram ride. It was cool because when we got on, we could travel through Western Springs, and we went past the zoo. The driver came out and told us a bit of history about trams. It was interesting to learn. We also had to stay seated so that we wouldn’t fall over.
I had heaps of fun at MOTAT. I can’t wait to go again!
